With SiteMaker you can add your own images, music, text and links quickly and easily. The 'SiteMaker Toolbar' at the top of the page, and the 'Editor' which floats on the page, will help you do this.

You can edit any object on your page or add new objects using your mouse. To edit existing objects, a single click will allow you to drag and resize objects, while a double click will allow you to edit the contents of the object, e.g. text.

When you select an object, the 'Editor' will display a number of panels which allow you to change settings on that object, e.g. for text this could be it's position on the page, e.g. 'Info' tab, or the font that you use, e.g. 'Font' tab. Different objects will have different settings.

To view your site as visitors would see it, click 'View my site' in the top right hand corner of the site. To get back to edit mode, click 'edit my site' in the floating edit panel (your visitors won't see this panel, only you can see it).

If you have any questions or problems, click on the 'Help' menu in the 'SiteMaker' toolbar to open our help pages. Good luck!

A planning application (no. 081950)

dated 19 December '08, was lodged with Clare County Council by SWS Energy Ltd. to build a windfarm at Loughaun North, Tulla (near Maghera Mtn.), Co. Clare.

The proposal consists of 8 turbines 125metres high. Several tubines would be about 200m above the shores of Lough Ea. The site is on land currently owned by Coillte.

A similar application on the same site was lodged in 2007 by Ventus Energy but was turned down by Clare County Council primarily because it is a Special Protected Area (SPA) under EU habitats directive.

Clare County Council requested further information on numerous issues.

In a curious u-turn on its previous decision, the council granted permission on 22 October 2009, citing national policy as the first reason. (Is it national policy now to rip up protected habitats?)

A planning consultant was appointed by concerned objectors and an appeal has been lodged with An Bord Pleanala. Indications are that a decision will be made by 30 March 2010.
